Tesla Inverter + Longi Panels + Smart Design = One Powerful Texas Rooftop

In the heart of Texas, where energy bills keep climbing and the sun shines relentlessly, a homeowner decided it was time for a change. Their goal was simple but crucial: to take control of their energy future without falling for the overpriced or underwhelming options flooding the market.

That’s where One Place Solar stepped in — and what followed was the creation of a high-performance rooftop solar system powered by some of the industry’s best technology, backed by expert engineering and thoughtful design.

Here’s how we did it — and what made this project so powerful.

🔍 The Problem: Rising Bills, Limited Options

Like many homeowners across Texas, this client was tired of:

  • Soaring utility bills,
  • Limited clarity from solar providers,
  • And receiving quotes that either lacked premium components or charged extra for them.

They knew they wanted clean, reliable energy, but every solution they saw came with hidden costs, vague deliverables, or the bare minimum.

This homeowner didn’t want to cut corners — but they also didn’t want to overpay. They wanted a complete, powerful solar solution at a fair price.

⚙️ Our Solution: Premium System, Smart Design

We offered more than just panels and permits.
We delivered a complete, code-compliant, engineering-led solar system that integrated seamlessly into the home’s electrical infrastructure.

Let’s break it down:

🧠 Smart Design Choices That Set This Project Apart

Inverter: Tesla 7.6kW

While most companies charge a premium for Tesla inverters, we included it in the base offering. This choice gave the homeowner:

  • Sleek, reliable energy conversion,
  • High system efficiency,
  • Future-readiness for battery backup if they choose to add it later.

Panels: 19 Longi LR5-54HABB-400M Modules

These high-efficiency 400W panels are known for:

  • Robust performance even under high temperatures,
  • Sleek appearance that blends with rooftop aesthetics,
  • Reliable energy output over the system’s lifetime.

With 19 panels configured into two smart strings (10+9), we optimized the layout for both space and energy flow.

Mounting System: K2 Splice Foot XL + CrossRail

We used K2 Systems’ premium roof mounting hardware, which ensured:

  • Secure and evenly distributed load over 44 attachment points,
  • Low-profile racking to reduce wind uplift,
  • Water-tight and durable construction for long-term rooftop safety.

Electrical Excellence — More Than Just Connections

This wasn’t just about plugging in a few wires. We ensured:

  • 200A main service panel upgrade with a dedicated 40A PV breaker, fully NEC 705.12 compliant.
  • Visible lockable AC disconnect within 10 feet of the utility meter — a must for local code and safety.
  • All wiring, conduit, and labeling adhered strictly to UL and NEC standards.

We also:

  • Ran a complete voltage drop analysis,
  • Provided rapid shutdown compliance,
  • Included dual power source placards and warning labels as per NEC 690.56.

🏗️ Structural Integrity You Can Rely On

One Place Solar isn’t just about wattage — it’s about long-term peace of mind.

We ensured:

  • Roof loading was limited to just 2.42 psf — well within safety standards,
  • All 2×6 rafters at 24″ spacing were confirmed for strength,
  • Flashing was applied in full accordance with manufacturer and code specs.

The system was designed to withstand:

  • 115 mph winds (ASCE 7-10 compliant),
  • 15 lb/sqft ground snow load,
  • Extreme high and low temperatures, per ASHRAE data for Texas.

🔍 Code Compliance from Day One

We engineered this project with AHJ and utility approval in mind, saving time and preventing headaches during inspections.

Every element was aligned with:

  • NEC 2014 standards (with updates for PV systems),
  • 2015 IBC, IFC, and IRC codes,
  • All Lubbock City requirements and LP&L utility interconnection rules.

🌞 The Impact: Clean Power, Real Savings

Thanks to the high-efficiency equipment and thoughtful layout:

  • The homeowner now produces enough energy to offset most of their bill, with excess feeding into the grid.
  • Their home is now eligible for federal solar tax credits, boosting ROI.
  • They’ve added value to their property — with a sleek, professionally designed system that’s built to last.

Plus, they now enjoy predictable power bills, regardless of grid inflation or seasonal usage spikes.
